NAMING CEREMONY

A naming ceremony is an opportunity for a family to formally welcome a child into the family, and community that surrounds them. They are a modern-day alternative to a christening or baptism and allow family and friends to surround your child with love, warmth, support and guidance.

Naming ceremonies can be done whenever, soon after their birth, at their first birthday, or another significant occasion. There are a range of non-religious rituals that can be undertaken to signify the occasion, and this can include the nomination and commitment of guardians to help watch over and guide them into adulthood.

On the day I will present you, the god parents, and the grand parents with a Commemorative Naming Certificate.

I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss your thoughts for a naming ceremony and share my collection of rituals, readings, and ideas for celebrating your child’s Naming Ceremony.

I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which I work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. I pay respect to elders past, present and emerging.
